#2023QuiltingQ2CheckIn
Do you follow Yvonne (@quiltingjetgirl) on Instagram? I can’t remember how I first discovered her, but I love her modern style! She’s a well-known quilt pattern tech editor as well as a pattern designer. In fact, she’s just released a trio of patterns, two of which could be created using scraps from the first - how cool is that?
I subscribe to her newsletter –
aside: with the ever changing and always mysterious algorithms, artists and creative entrepreneurs rely on email lists to make sure our news and content actually gets in front of your eyes. Have you signed up for mine?
– which is how I learned about the #2023QuiltingQ2CheckIn. I’m late to the game here, but I’ve decided to tag along. I can very easily get caught up in a flow and forget to pause and get some good perspective and strategically plan (is this you, too?), so I thought the checkin was a great nudge to do just that.
Looking back at 2023 so far:
The first 6 months of 2023 have been really great in my corner of the quiltiverse.
-I attended my first QuiltCon, where I met some quilty folks IRL, reconnected with some camp buddies, and seriously bonded with my roomie!
-I had 2 quilts juried into & shown at QuiltFest Greenville - my first show acceptances and a great excuse to drive to Greenville, visit with a dear college buddy, and see my babies displayed in person!
-I enrolled in and completed Amber/Alderwood Studio’s Pattern Writing Academy. What a fantastic experience! I can’t speak highly enough about Amber’s course and the community I’m now part of.
-I wrote my first pattern, Heliconia, releasing July 6!
-I had a quilt juried into AQSQuiltweek - Grand Rapids
Quilty creations so far this year:
-Sunrise Wall Hanging (pattern from Amber Elliott’s Modern Heirloom Quilting)
-Cosmic Waterfall throw (pattern tester for Radha/Sewing Through Fog)
-Pantone Plumage throw for the Pantone Challenge
-One Good Thing - a BOM project with Libs Elliott’s Patreon; I’ve finished the top but haven’t quilted it yet!
-Sasanqua baby quilt (pattern tester for Pin and Press Co)
-Dainty Paws pillow cover (pattern tester for Gingerly Quilt Co)
-Heliconia cover quilt
Looking forward…
July 6 Heliconia release! (Newsletter subscribers get an exclusive coupon code…just saying)
July 9 I’m teaching a whole cloth mini quilt class at Craft Habit Raleigh.
Q3 will be a little quieter. We’ve got some family travel planned and I’m thrilled to be going back to Slow Stitching!
Once we get closer to Fall, my goals include:
-Writing three patterns - maybe 4 - including a holiday mini and a very special project I’m ridiculously excited about
-Completing a pattern test for Vicki/@piecetymes
-Completing entries for two QuiltCon 2024 challenges
-Entering quilts into additional shows
What about you? How has your quilty 2023 been so far? What’s coming up? Thanks, Yvonne, for this opportunity & nudge!
