2023 Q3 Check In
We’re about a week into Q4 of 2023, so it’s a good time to reflect on Q3 and get my ducks in a row for Q4!

– and decided to tag along (despite having missed Q1). I can very easily get caught up in a flow and forget to pause and get some good perspective and strategically plan (is this you, too?), so I thought the checkin was a great nudge to do just that.
Q3 recap
I released my first pattern, Heliconia, on July 6!
I taught a fun Whole Cloth Mini Quilt class at Craft Habit - didn’t get any pics thanks to a storm knocking out the power in the last few minutes or so, but it was fun and the students’ wall hangings looked great!
Mid-July through mid-August involved a lot of travel!
Strongest Link was exhibited at AQS Quiltweek - Des Moines
My Heliconia cover quilt was juried into Pacific International Quilt Festival
Check in on goals I set for Q3:
-Writing three patterns - maybe 4 - including a holiday mini and a very special project I’m ridiculously excited about
Special project pattern has been written & tech edited & is now with testers!
Holiday mini now has a name (Hardcore Holiday), and is in the draft stage
One more (also secret) pattern is currently with testers
-Completing a pattern test for Vicki/@piecetymes
Top complete! I’m really happy with how the top came out for Vicki’s Birdland quilt pattern, and I’ve got backing fabric procured as well. Look for a blog post once it’s done!
-Completing entries for two QuiltCon 2024 challenges
This is consuming pretty much all of my time right now. I’m entering Heliconia (complete), Archer (need to finish binding & photograph), and 2 more that are in the quilting stage currently…so I’ve bumped up that goal from 2 to 4 entries. Wish me luck!
-Entering quilts into additional shows
Shows I’ve got on my radar to enter: AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah, Capital Quilter’s Quilt Show, PAQA-South Art Quilts renewal, and a few other gallery opportunities.
Q4 goals
Finish QuiltCon Submissions! The deadline is October 31. ⏳ 😳
I’d love to get some Halloween blocks done from the Spooky Season and Soul-Along samplers - I’ve been downloading & printing out the patterns each day, and even taking some time to pull out my Halloween fabrics…
Finish secret 🤐 project pattern (coming February 2024!)
Source printing for hard copy patterns (yep! paper patterns from Sewistry are coming in 2024!)
Release Hardcore Holiday mini pattern - aiming for November 3
Solstice Samplers - finishing my 2022 sampler (quilting is about half done) and piecing the 2023 one
Do some holiday sewing & quilting - I’m looking forward to getting out the blocks I started last year from Cassandra Beaver’s Festive Baubles pattern & making some more!
