Sowing the Seeds of Love

Each petal shape was pieced from 6-8 scraps from a common color family and inset into the background using traditional curved piecing techniques. They were then stuffed to transform them from flat petals to 3-dimensional seeds. Walking foot quilting with assorted variegated threads in a sprouting pattern completes the vignette of a rainbow of growing seeds scattered in the dark earth, inviting the viewer to consider the vast and diverse potential of human expression, if nurtured and encouraged to grow. The title is a nod to the 1989 Tears for Fears song by the same name. Nearly 35 years later, the message remains pertinent: "Anything is possible when you're sowing the seeds of love."
