Heliconia Tester Parade
The Heliconia pattern has been out in the world for a week now, so I think it’s time to share some of the beautiful works of art created by pattern testers!
Eva from Gingerly Quilt Co was in my cohort of the Pattern Writing Academy and the first to test my pattern! She made this gorgeous wall hanging for the Pantone Viva Magenta Challenge. I love the combination of machine and hand quilting to give it a very tropical, rainy feel!
My friend Ann W. is a wonderfully creative and talented quilter who’s more of an improv style artist. She graciously signed on to follow my pattern and provide feedback - she’d never sewn curve blocks before, which you’d never know from the finished product!
The final wall hanging test is from another PWA cohort buddy, Jennifer from Pin and Press Co. Purple and turquoise are among my favorite colors, and I love how she used them here! She took advantage of the smaller size to do some hand quilting on a manageable scale, and I think it came out just gorgeously!
I met Vicki through the Triangle MQG here in NC. I love how she followed the pattern and also made it her own by switching up some of the colors - I think this would be a great approach if you wanted to use up some of your stash and/or highlight some special fabrics! I’m loving the lighter background, too.
Finally, we have a baby size done by Nicki - the batik is a fabulous background! It gives it some texture and depth and brings together the solids beautifully.
